One Twenty-Two and an Eight

A couple years ago Jay came over to my apartment and we recorded samples around the living room and kitchen. These samples sat neglected on my computer until last Friday. I made a goal to utilize these samples and complete 1 song within a week. This was the result. I threw just about everything (including the kitchen sink) into this one.

 

 

Even if you are a casual follower of end-of-the-year lists, chances are by now you’ve grown weary of reading so many. A blues favorite of mine. The harmonica is just killer.

 

Always exciting to hear a new Wilco album, even more exciting when you hear its some of their most experimental stuff since Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. This first track is so good.

 
I tried this album by Scottish songwriter “King Creosote” after hearing a recommendation on All Songs Considered. I’m glad I did, Diamond Mine has really grown on me over time. It will probably end up being one of my favorites of the year.
