As the newest addition to GRTM, I’ve been thinking long and hard (intermittently, for at least the past three hours) about what bomb I’ll drop in my debut. I decided on a longform critique of the Fed’s monetary policy and the urgent need to return to the gold standard, but then my computer crashed. (It and the other guy decided not to call the cops and get the insurance companies involved – so I’ll be announcing a fundraising drive later this week, in hopes of helping poor ol’ Mr. Macbook regain his old shine.)

So! In lieu of my take on artificial liquidity, malinvestment in the housing market and who REALLY took down the towers on 9/11 (hint: it was one of your relatives), I present A PICTORIAL STUDY OF ELMO: Pure Joy in Seven Frames. (Roll over the pictures to read their ecumenical and nonpartisan captions.)

  1. This pictorial made me cry. First with joy. Then with bittersweet sorrow. Then with joy again. Then with more bittersweet sorrow. Then I forget the next emotion. Then more joy. And finally, the salty tears of sadistic laughter.

  2. Is there no layer of what it means to be human that Elmo has not already portrayed with the utmost perfect precision and accuracy???!!!!
